Cookie Policy
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small files placed on your device by a website. They can be used to make the site work, remember your preferences, recognise your browser, and keep you signed in. We may also use related browser storage, such as localStorage, where that is appropriate for a site feature.
2. Cookies and storage currently used on this site
- cookie_consent: stores your consent choice for essential or all cookies.
- tv_cookie_consent: localStorage backup of the same consent choice.
- Authentication/session cookies: used to keep you signed in and protect account access.
- tv_device_id: an HttpOnly device cookie used to recognise a device and enforce subscription device limits.
- tv_analytics_visitor_id: a localStorage identifier used only after you accept optional cookies to calculate aggregate unique site visitors.
3. Why we use them
- To keep the website secure and recognise your login session.
- To remember your cookie preference so we do not keep asking you to choose.
- To recognise a previously used device for subscription access control.
- To support moderation, anti-abuse protections, and account security features.
- To support sign-in providers and payment-related journeys that may involve third-party cookies during external login or checkout steps.
Our approach is to keep tracking to the minimum needed for the site to function safely. If you accept optional cookies, we use a pseudonymous localStorage identifier for aggregate page-view and unique-visitor statistics. We do not use marketing cookies for core access, and we do not intend to collect cookie data that is unrelated to account use, security, consent or clearly explained analytics unless we update this policy.
4. Necessary and optional categories
At present, the site primarily uses necessary cookies and closely related storage for security, authentication, consent, and device recognition. Necessary cookies cannot be turned off if you want the site to function correctly.
Optional analytics storage is used only after you select "Accept all" in the cookie banner. If you select "Necessary only", we do not set the analytics identifier or record page-view analytics.
5. Device limit processing
When you access a subscription-protected page, we combine the device cookie with device metadata such as user-agent string and last-seen timestamps to determine whether the account may use that device. This helps us enforce the permitted device limit and spot unusual access patterns.
6. Third-party cookies
Third parties such as Google sign-in and Stripe may set their own cookies or similar technologies when you use their services. We do not control those cookies directly, and their use is governed by the third party's own policies.
If you interact with external login or payment screens, you should review the relevant third-party privacy and cookie information before continuing.
We only receive the information necessary to complete sign-in or payment-related actions, and we do not use third-party cookies to read your full account password.
7. Managing cookies
You can usually control cookies through your browser settings, including blocking, deleting, or restricting cookies. If you block all cookies, some parts of the site may not function properly, especially sign-in, device control, and consent memory.
You can also adjust your consent choice using the cookie banner, and your selection is stored so that we can respect it on future visits.
If you want maximum privacy, use the essential-only option in the banner and manage your browser storage settings. Essential cookies remain necessary for sign-in, security, and device access control.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this cookie policy if the technology, legal requirements, or site features change. The latest version will always appear on this page.
You can review privacy controls in Privacy & Data Controls.
